Community visits to the Mansfield Materials Recovery Facility
We would like to welcome you to the Materials Recovery Facility in Mansfield.
A Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) is where recyclable materials that are collected from households are sorted into different types (e.g. plastics, cardboard, paper, metal) using a mixture of manual and automated methods. When the materials have been sorted they are sent to reprocessors and manufacturers where they are used to create new products.
Community groups from Nottinghamshire are able to visit the MRF for an interactive talk, activity and tour of the facility to find out what happens to their household recycling once it is collected from the kerbside.
Talks can also be arranged in the community if groups are unable to visit the facility.

A load of rubbish turned out to be a great experience. We love our country and want to recycle as much as possible to conserve its resources and natural beauty.
